► Welcome to the first Captain’s meeting of the season 2010. Let’s run through some items.

Presentation Night was a big success. At the committee meetings I always said I would like to have a presentation night where everyone would look forward too each end of the season. I think we’ve done a good job, we had nice food and good entertainment. We will try to do similar next time.

As I told you at the presentation night Motorworld will sponsor again all the trophies of this new season. Don’t hesitate to go and talk to them if your insurance needs to be renewed (car-, house-, fire-, family- insurance, etc) or maybe you might know somebody who wants to buy a second hand car. Whenever you go to see them don’t forget to mention that you play in the Sunday League. These things help Motorworld to keep us sponsoring in the future.

Also this season the committee has made some changes to improve our league (see below).

Island Connections is still willing to publish our results and now and then a picture.

Island Connections comes out every fortnight.

Also Power FM is willing to mention our darts league on the radio. Gordon King (tennis Happy Days) is the man in question who will try to get Power FM more involved. Also Barrie (Barracuda) helped getting us mentioned on the radio at the Peter Guilty show on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

If you have pictures taken during a match, just send them to me and I’ll publish them on our website.

In case you have missed a meeting or you don’t know when the next meeting will be, just go to our website because fixtures, minutes of meetings, competitions, etc. are published every time on: www.darts-tenerife.com

Go and have some fun on Facebook because we are on it from today: Wild Bull Darts League Tenerife

► Approval of the league committee: Johny, Luc, Davy, Ian and Raf.

During the whole season we keep committee meetings, sometimes we make decisions in your place because it’s impossible to discuss everything at the captains meetings. That’s why a good committee is very important. Of course, very important decisions will be done at the captains meetings.

So far I think we have done a good job but also this year we need your approval to have this league committee.

If you have a problem or suggestion you can always contact me or one of the committee members.

Everybody agreed with the committee 2010.

League fund:

Previous Balance: 2818.40€

Trophies: - 12€ (total of trophies was 562€, Motorworld paid 550€)

Entertainment: - 160€

Food: - 800€

Drink Tickets: - 500€

Guests Clansman, Cosy Wanderers, Trapdoor: + 60€

Paperwork: meetings, comps, food/drink tickets, etc. -50€

Transport bars: - 145€New Balance: 1211.40€

► Registration of all teamsBecause there is still enough money left in the league fund we continue charging 50€ registration fee to the old teams but 100€ to the new teams. We will decide, following the numbers of teams that are registered today, whether we keep 3 divisions or go back to 2. Start of the new season is 31st of January 2010.

22 Teams got registeredThere are 2 divisions with 11 teams each.

► A few changes will improve the course of the season:

> Every season we have the same people showing up at meetings. It happened that once a bar got its competition and meeting they don’t come to the meetings anymore.

We decided to reward teams who come to meetings. We will not give anymore the 25 free drink tickets per team that we always gave at the presentation night. From now on tickets have to be earned by the teams itself. Every time a team is represented at a Captain’s meeting it will get 5 drink tickets. There will be about 6 – 8 meetings per season. Those teams who come always to the meetings will have more tickets than before, other teams might have no tickets at all if they haven’t been at the meetings. One person can only represent one team!!!

> Team Handicap KO Competitions will be played from the second half way of the season on instead of one (long) day at the end of the league. Teams will not have to wait anymore for hours before it’s their turn again to play. We will also get more bars involved with the competitions as we need more venues. Probable every team will play the handicaps now as it will be part of the league.

Teams who are dropped out early in this competition will have a Sunday off while other teams are still playing.

At the end of the 1st half way of the season we will give every team their handicap points on the same way like we

did before and we will do the draw of the teams during a meeting. The highest team starts with 501 points the other team following the ranking that it got at the end in the 1st half way.

The team who wins this Handicap Cup enters for free next season.

> To attract more players to the KO competitions each division will be separate.  We will have more competitive matches as everybody is playing against a player of his own division.

In case of enough entrees women will be put in a separate competition.

> We would like to reduce the number of trophies of the league. We are suggesting (but we will vote on this now) to do only the main trophies anymore and not the trophies of the singles, doubles, trebles of the league. We would like to buy some nicer trophies instead.

Everybody understood that these trophies are useless and thrown away money. Everybody agreed on not having those trophies anymore in the future.

> If a team quits the league it can be replaced by another team. This team will now also take the old team’s place and points in the ranking. Last season a lot of friendly games were not played against Les Gavines probable this match wasn’t important enough because it didn’t affect the ranking.

> It’s very important, especially for new teams, to know the rules. Here are a few essential ones the rest you can find in the captain’s book and on the website:

-         a player can only change once from team but only until the day before the start of the second half way. After this, swapping from teams is not allowed anymore.

-         home teams have to send me the results straight after the match on my mobile 696792794 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . The captain of the visiting team will not sign the game sheet before the results have been sent through. Make sure when you sent me the results you mention also the singles, doubles, trebles games as the 180’s and highest outs above 99. A lot of people just sent me the overall score! When this happens I do not update your score, it’ll stay empty as you haven’t played.

Please, check your own results every week and let me know if something is not correct or missing.

-         A team who wants to postpone a match has to warn me and the opposing team 24h in advance. If it doesn’t warn 24h in advance the other team might claim 8-0. Up to the captain to decide.

-         A postponed match has to be played within a month. If it’s not done within a month, the team who cancelled the match will lose with 8-0 score. That’s why it is important to call me too because I have to know which team cancelled it.

-         If a team doesn’t show up or too late (after 4.15pm) without warning, the opponents might claim 8-0 and no discussions are accepted. Up to the captain to decide.

-         If a team appears to the match with only 3 players they will automatically lose a Single, Double and Treble game! No other player from our league (= a player who has played for a team in 2010) can complete the team. A tourist is always allowed to join a team.

-         If you would like to enter in the KO competitions you have to register your players during one of the meetings. We are not accepting players anymore after the draws have been done. Every player will pay 5€ in advance, this money will be refunded in case of presence at the venue. If a player is not present at the venue where he was registered he will lose his money. This money will go to the bar owner.

-         In the KO Competitions every next round a new draw will be done until the final.

► Finals Day.

Because this is a very important day of the season I have to know at the beginning of the season if you agree to keep the finals again at Camping Nauta.

Everybody agreed to have the finals day at Camping Nauta

Next Captains meeting at Clansman 15th February 2010 - 6.30PM

Topics of the meeting: Single KO Competitions Men and Ladies, each division separate. Ladies of division 1, 2 and 3 are put together in one competition.
