Comittee Meeting Darts League Held at Los Toscales bar4pm on Wednesday 5th of March 2008 All committee present with the exception of David from the Clansman (Apologised earlier) 1. Meeting Agenda A number of issues had been received by Steve and Raf, the committee were asked to revue and resolve these. 2. Individual Knockout There was a few issues with this, mainly that a large number of people failed to show up at the venue they had been drawn at, some turning up and trying to get a game at other venues.
After some discussion it was felt that the free entry had led to this with peoples names just been added to the entry list, plus other problems with transport and the fact that players didn’t want to go to a venue on their own.
The committee decided that all competitions would remain free of charge however each player would be required to pay 5€ up front when registering, this would be returned to them at the correct venue on the day of the competition. No show no dough. In the case of the doubles if for some reason a partner fell out, a replacement could be brought in but only before the blind draw took place.
Please note we are still looking for a sponsor for the Cricket Tournament.
3. Results and Cancelled games
At the last meeting it was decided that both captains home and away should ensure the result has been sent in before signing the sheet. One result however was still missing the game between Paddy ‘O’ Taffy’s and Exiles B. It was felt that this should be discussed with all the captains at the next Captains meeting.
Cancelled games the teams are advised to arrange to play these games as soon as possible. 4. Contact Details A few incidents have already occurred where one team is unable to contact another, some numbers on the sheet were incorrect, some bars had no access to the contact sheets or Internet access and often the contact on the sheet was off the Island, had a flat battery or other reason. The committee felt that the perfect solution was to get every regular players contact details, so there should be no excuse not to be able to contact someone in a team if required. RAF to bring up at the next meeting. (Contact sheet to be reviewed) 5. Pictures Still very few photos have been submitted to Raf, he urges all teams to get these done for completing the website. A very difficult job it seems. 6. Good News or should I say Good Newspaper Due to a number of reasons including Steve been in hospital, Raf been in Belgium and Henry Cruz been in England. We seem to have lost our way with the Island Connections Newspaper. Steve was tasked with contacting the paper and presenting his update to the next captains meeting. 7. The website A number off issues had been raised by league players. Raf was glad to say that this was a learning curve but with Steve’s help and the Web designer a large number of problems have already been resolved. However recently problems include the failure to show, 180 Details, High Finishes and the printout is very small and difficult to follow.
Steve would collate all these new problems and liase with the webmaster, to try to resolve them.
HALL OF FAME As from this year there will be a new Hall of Fame page on the website, listing many details for example Highest ever male & female Checkout, most 180’s in a season, Cups and league winners, most points in one season, lowest points in one season etc. 8. Sad news Raf told everyone that one of the Gramola team players had sadly passed away. Sabrina had been a popular and well-known player. He had received some feedback from many players who felt that the league should do something, in respect of this tragic event.
Johnny was tasked with purchasing a reef made up to look like a dartboard with a simple message of condolence from the Sunday League.
The committee felt that this alone was not enough, so this year the Unicorn team cup will carry for one year only the name of Sabrina. It is hoped that all teams would enter and also try to raise some kind of donation. This will be discussed at the next Captains meeting, however Steve was tasked in contacting Sabrina’s husband, to ensure this would not cause any further suffering.
"Footnote;- I contacted Johnny and Molly, they were overwhelmed by the support they have received so far, from phone calls e-mails, txt message, web forums etc. They were so happy and yet humbled, to here what was proposed and Molly felt that her mum would be happy to know that her passing on has helped others to live, they are currently setting up a co-ordinated fund, to help the charity in Africa Sabrina had devotedly helped for so many years.” I will update everyone at the captains meeting. Johnny said anything that could keep Sabrina’s name alive was highly appreciated. 9. Presentation Night The night was discussed in some detail, with many suggestions been considered. Discussions will continue at the next committee meeting.
10. Next Meeting The committee decided to try and visit all the bars in the league or try neutral bars and venues, so the next meeting of the Sub Committee was to be held at the Pig in the Dip Bar on Monday the 10th of March 2008 at 5pm, this is to allow for a complete review of the league rules and the completion of the captains meeting Agenda.
The meeting closed at 5:30pm, again the committee agreed that in such a small amount of time a great deal had been discussed and resolved.
